Multiple devices now supported for individual users

Oakland, CA, February 12, 2015

Customers can now use multiple cards or tokens to logon to a single Sphinx account and access logon data. As long as all devices are assigned to the same user, they can be used interchangeably and share the same logon data

Sphinx compatible devices can include any mixture of cards, key fobs, token readers, or tablet computers. Up to five devices can be registered to one user at any given time. Licensing is per user, so all devices that are registered for an individual will be supported by a single user license.

For an on-the-go solution, compatible tablet computers can be configured to be used without a card or reader. Two-factor authentication is still accomplished in this case by using the enrolled tablet as one factor (what you have) and the PIN as the second (what you know).

Target application areas that use multiple devices include healthcare, law enforcement, manufacturing, or virtually any organization where users prefer certain device formats depending on where they are. For example, some installations use building access cards when they are in the office, and token readers when they travel with their laptops. Others may need to work interchangeably at a desktop and on a mobile tablet computer.
