Sphinx Announces Seamless Compatibility with SafeHouse Hard Drive Encryption Software

Oakland, CA, October 15, 2007

With news of stolen laptops and lost data files being released all too frequently, hard drive encryption has become a necessity. We are happy to announce that Sphinx is now out-of-the-box compatible with the high quality SafeHouse hard drive encryption package. In fact, a trial version of SafeHouse is included in the latest Sphinx release.

SafeHouse allows users to reserve a portion of their hard drive for encrypted files. This "SafeHouse" space appears in Windows as a new drive letter, making access to sensitive data simple and transparent. The SafeHouse drive is protected by "military strength" encryption, which requires password authentication to access the files. This is where Sphinx comes into the equation.

Whenever SafeHouse is installed on a computer where Sphinx Logon Manager has already been installed: upon first use, SafeHouse prompts the user to specify a SafeHouse authentication password and automatically saves it to Sphinx (via a transparent API). Then, the next time the user wants to access data that is stored on the encrypted "SafeHouse drive", he is prompted to simply present his Sphinx card and enter his Sphinx PIN.

For complete information on the SafeHouse software, go to: www.SafeHouseSoftware.com. At the website, users who already have Sphinx Logon Manager installed can download a free trial version of SafeHouse, which includes the integrated Sphinx functionality described above.

"SafeHouse eliminates the complications of keeping information private," said Peter Avritch, president of PC Dynamics and publisher of the software. "Users don't want to manually encrypt and decrypt files. That's far too much work and prone to errors. Saving secret files to a new drive letter, now that's something everyone can understand."
