Add Fingerprint Authentication to Your Sphinx Solution

Oakland, CA, November 8, 2007

Sphinx is now compatible with the compact and portable Silex Swipe Sensor fingerprint reader. Silex' new swipe sensor approach offers superior performance for dry/wet fingers.

The Silex reader has been integrated with Sphinx so that it can easily be used with any Sphinx compatible contact or RFID card. The Administrator simply changes Sphinx' PIN default setting so that fingerprint authentication is required in addition to (for three-factor authentication), or instead of (for two-factor authentication), the PIN. Then upon first use of Sphinx Logon Manager, end-users are prompted to enroll two fingerprints with the Silex reader. Thereafter, cardholders are prompted to verify a fingerprint when they logon to Windows or open Sphinx.

When used with a smart card, the fingerprint is authenticated against the image stored on card. When used with an RFID card, the fingerprint is authenticated against the image stored on the Sphinx secure server. With both methods, Sphinx adheres to stringent security protocols and unencrypts the fingerprint image only as required for authentication, to ensure that the image is kept secret.

The Silex Swipe Sensor fingerprint reader can be purchased directly from Tx Systems, Inc., or as a part of a Sphinx solution package from any Sphinx distributor.
